Envision DASD
Envision the Future

The mission of the Derry Area School District is to develop responsible citizens and life-long learners who are prepared to adapt and succeed in a global society.
While the world has grown into a global marketplace with ever-changing technologies and complex challenges, we must equip our students to adapt and thrive in this rapidly changing environment.
As DASD prepares for the future, we will look to our community to help us define what that future will look like and reimagine our existing spaces to ensure that our students are receiving the highest quality instruction possible.

Steps to Success

This collaborative process will seek to establish a facility master plan that is educationally fantastic, financially responsible, community developed and community supported.
The graphic below outlines the steps we will take to engage our community and ultimately develop a final master plan recommendation for the Board of Education.

FACILITY & SITE ASSESSMENTS
Update facility assessments (including security + educational adequacy)
Review and advise student enrollment projections + building capacities
Evaluate existing school-owned properties
EDUCATIONAL VISIONING
Two teams working simultaneously – a student team + a community team
Research shifts occurring in learning and teaching
Determine the impact on DASD students
Consider how facilities might best respond
Ultimately establish an educational vision for DASD
VISION TEST FIT
Overlay the educational vision with our existing facilities
Observe teaching + learning in our existing facilities
Develop conceptual options to deliver the educational vision
Scope is applied to implement that vision
Identify costs of implementation
COMMUNITY ADVISORY TEAM (CAT) + MASTER PLAN DEVELOPMENT
CAT is comprised of stakeholders from the community that represent a variety of backgrounds + opinions
Synthesize all information + develop community values
Educational facilities, holistic ideation and evaluation of potential solutions
Develop master plan options with the goal of narrowing them down to a single master plan
CAT recommends a final master plan to the BOE
FINAL MASTER PLAN TO BOE
At the conclusion of the master planning process, the CAT team will recommend the final master plan to the Board of Education.
